The pace of activity in Calgary’s resale housing market has picked up in June but transactions remain significantly down from a year ago.

According to the Calgary Real Estate Board website, as of June 7, the first week of the month has experienced 300 MLS sales which has dropped by 32.89 per cent compared to the same period a year ago. Pending sales of 98 are down 6.67 per cent.

In the first week, new listings have increased by 1.19 per cent from a year ago to 851 while active listings are down by 20.09 per cent to 6,078.

The median sale price has risen by 0.47 per cent to $427,000 while the average sale price has decreased by 0.29 per cent to $465,718.

It’s taking longer to sell a house in these market conditions. The average days on the market for a listing to sell has gone up from 54 days last year to 64 days today which is a hike of 18.52 per cent.
