Calgary and Edmonton are both rated in the top five destinations in Canada for people moving there in the past year using a U-Haul truck.
The company released its rankings on Friday. They’re based on the total number of arriving one-way U-Haul trucks into a city in the past calendar year.
Toronto was ranked first overall, followed by Calgary, Montreal, Edmonton and Ottawa.
Toronto saw a four per cent year-over-year increase in one-way U-Haul truck arrivals in 2018 to remain the busiest city for incoming traffic among do-it-yourself movers, said U-Haul.
“Toronto has more than 140 unique neighbourhoods, and young people are attracted to that community feel,” said Antony Grocott, U-Haul Company of Eastern Ontario president, in a news release. “Companies, including U-Haul, continue to invest in Toronto. There is job growth at all levels.”
